Ask the lucky few about their experience of Maserati ownership and they will provide a veritable lexicon of what makes it so special: the elegant, curvaceous lines, the exclusivity, the luxurious interior, the way other people admire it. They will also praise the driving experience – the timbre of the V8 engine and mellifluous exhaust, the responsiveness of the automatic transmission and the tremendous handling. Now, Maserati is offering a limited number of Trident enthusiasts the opportunity to learn and drive a Maserati in a very different environment: snow!
The Maserati Snow Test Drive program takes place in the exclusive Swiss ski resort of St. Moritz, viewed by many as the most desirable Alpine destination. This special program is an extension of the well regarded Master Maserati high performance driver education program based at Maserati’s own track at Varano de’ Melegari in Italy.
Attendees of the Maserati Snow Test Drive in St. Moritz will be given the opportunity to drive high-performance Maseratis on snow and ice, with expert tuition from professional drivers. The aim of the course is to provide participants with a chance to experience the true performance of the various models – Quattroporte, GranTurismo and GranTurismo Convertible – in a completely controlled environment. The instructors will endeavour to achieve a seamless relationship between car and driver, adding that extra flourish of professionalism to the driving style of even the most proficient attendees.
The course has an extremely practical aim, too: to help participants understand how to handle unexpected situations when grip has been compromised by weather. So topics include handling, proper braking, how to find and follow the ideal line, how to steer and brake correctly with different techniques, all on a snow- and ice-covered circuit.
The experience begins with a transfer from Milan airport to the superb Hotel Kempinski; welcome drinks will be served in the Maserati ‘Blue Igloo’ in front of the hotel, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. After breakfast the following day, attendees will be taken to the venue, next to St. Moritz airport, where the day begins with a technical briefing. Three sessions offer ample opportunities to try out each Maserati model on the snowbound track and a series of exercises, all under the guidance of the professional instructor sitting alongside.
If you wish to extend your stay, the Maserati Welcome Desk will be pleased to make further arrangements – a horse-drawn sleigh ride, for example, or perhaps a bobsleigh experience at the sport’s most famous Olympic venue. Maserati staff can even put together a tailor-made itinerary, to meet your specific requirements.
The Maserati Snow Test Drive takes place for one week only, in February, and places are strictly limited.
